Writing Assessments
How Do Writing Assessments Work?
You may be wondering why we're asking for a writing assessment instead of just putting your child directly into one of our classes. The reason is simple: every child is unique. In some cases, a first grader may be writing at a third grade level. And a 6th grader may be at a 4th grade level. That's not "good" or "bad," it just is. The clearer we are about where a student actually is, the better we can help them. For example, it doesn't make sense to have a 6th grader in a class of 6th graders if they write at a 4th grade level. They won't improve.
For this reason, we don't place children in classes by "grade," but rather assessment "level." It's our internal classification scheme that allows us to be so effective in helping students unlock their inner writer and (if behind) catch up faster. Or, if ahead, do that much better. Still not sure how it works? Why not reach out and talk to one of our team members to learn more about how this process works. Or, better yet, download the free assessment, have your student take it, and then upload it back to us. Then, a member of our team will reach out to answer all your questions.
